About Nigel Neiman Upholstery
Nigel Neiman Upholstery is a family business based in Stoke, Nelson, owned by qualified upholsterer Nigel and his wife Nicky. Nigel's 28 years experience in the upholstery industry means he knows what he is doing. His upholstery work uses tried and tested techniques and high quality materials to give your sofa, armchair, dining suite or bedhead a finish and look that will last.
Nigel has access to a wide range of high quality fabrics and finishing materials and can recommend the right material for your furniture.
Nigel is a traditional craftsman who works out pattern flow and pattern matching in his head to calculate a cutting list. He will work out fabric requirements for a perfect match, making sure stripes are centred and pattern lines flow correctly.

Nigel and Nicky have been in business together for many years. Their family business philosophy means they value every customer and care for each piece of furniture as if it were their own. If a piece has stood up to ten years wear the framework is probably sound or it wouldn't have lasted that long. Restoration can return an item to a fashionably new piece.

Nigel is a rare thing in a modern world - a true craftsman who does everything by hand. From calculating pattern layouts in his head and drawing up a cutting list, to hand nailing hundreds of brass covered furnishing nails into an antique armchair, he brings his years of experience and natural attention to detail to each job. Nigel works with antique heirlooms and contemporary designer furniture. His artisan approach has brought him customer loyalty and a reputation for getting it right, no matter how hard the task.
Nigel completed an upholstery apprenticeship through the Furniture and Related Trades Industry (1988) and holds an NZ Trade Certificate in Upholstery (1989).
Nicky Neiman
Nigel's right hand woman in the workshop and office, Nicky takes care of furniture stripping, customer care and administration.
